Both robust and comfortable (for me anyway), although not totally secure descending steep, wet grass (where it pays to edge them a bit so you’re not just using the heels) or wet boulder fields (where nothing’s going to be 100% secure).

Must also say how much it means to us to see that comment here from the man himself, so thanks again Charlie! Third and fourth completions of the year for Jon and me (after Bruce and Alan on 23 July), but looks like the four of us are the first to do it anti-clockwise since John Fleetwood in 2003 and still very much in the minority (now 12 of 59 finishers?) in taking your original direction. However, no laps of honour… please! ;-)
